Creative Scrappers Sketch # 242

I am challenging myself (and you if you're up for it) to finish 50 layouts without buying any new supplies.  This, of course, does not include adhesive.  To help keep me going I am going to participate in as many online challenges as I can.  So...

here's this week's sketch from Creative Scrappers.

This is from way back in the fall of 2008 when we took the kids to Brown's Berry Patch.

These pictures are from my best friends wedding.  Rebekah came with us and brought Po too.  I couldn't find the third picture in my box but it should go in the top place.  Papers are all from Close to My Heart Florentine Paper Pack.

The Try This File: Bottle Cap Candles

I have a Try This File.  Actually, I have several.  I have one of the old fashioned kind in a sketchbook with cutouts from magazines, I have one on my laptop, one in my internet bookmark list, one on pinterest, and I am sure I have others as well.

You have one too, don't you?

Rebekah and I decided to tackle one on New Year's Eve...bottle cap candles.  Here's the original picture I re-pinned on pinterest.  It was a listing on Etsy.

Then I looked up directions on the internet and found this bottle cap candles TUTORIAL at Craftaholics Anonymous which may become a favorite site.

I recommend that you visit there for the step by step instructions to make your own.

My Life May Challenge at Paper Coterie

30th Birthday Book

Embrace Mini Album

I created this mini album for a challenge in January 2009. I don't even remember where the challenge was from. I found the pictures on one of my husband's thumb drives and so here it is. It represents all the things that I wanted to embrace in 2009. It was sort of my New Year's resolutions in a book.

You can tell that I had gotten my Cricut for my birthday in November because I have diecuts from it throughout the book. Around the edge of the star I wrote each of the things I would embrace. "I will embrace my kids. I will embrace..."


Faith: I wanted to continue do grow in my faith. I was discovering where I belonged in God's plan and where I was going. I was looking for a church home that felt right. I was trying to discover ways that I could show that faith in my daily life to my friends and my family.
"I will pray without ceasing."


My kids: Speaking of family, I wanted to embrace my role as a mother to my 2 kids.
"I will embrace my relationship with my kids, and give them all I have to offer."


My Soul Mate: Kelly, the love of my life, my everything. I wanted to embrace my role as a Proverbs 31 wife for him. I always desire to complete him.


Outdoors: I wanted my family to enjoy the outdoors together. I wanted to work together with the earth, to make our little bit of it beautiful and useful for our family.

Travel: I love taking my kids to discover new places. I wanted to travel with my family to places that would inspire and fulfill us.

Tomorrow: I will embrace the future and all it has to offer myself, my kids, my marriage, and others around me.

I wish I could remember where I found this quotation. I don't think that I was clever enough to come up with it on my own.

Dresses

I am finally posting pics of the dresses I have made for Rebekah.

Wait for the iron to heat up so I can iron them first.

Convince Rebekah to play dress up so I can take pics of them on her.

Unsuccessful.

Hang them on hangers and find a decent background to hang them in front of.

Wait, batteries need to be charged in the camera. Find charger, plug in, wait.

Cat walks on the dresses. Must straighten them again.

Make eggs and hot cocoa for breakfast/lunch.

Finally take pics...and post them for you to see.

I have been creating an album for several months now focused on four generations of charm bracelets. My sister and I received ours for our 12th birthdays from my parents. My mother has one from her parents and my grandmother has one from when she was grown. I started one for my daughter for her 1st birthday.

This is a page I created for my daughter's first charm. You can see the charm in the top left corner of the layout. It is a glittering star.

The paper is Felicity from Close to My Heart. It was, admittedly, a limited edition paper pack but may still be found second hand. It was so fabulous. All of the papers are double sided. This pack included these wonderful doily-like die cut papers too.

The photo on the bottom left also has a transparent overlay with scroll work on it. When I started adding adhesive rhinestones to the page and couldn't stop, I asked my husband, "can you have too much glitter on a page about a princess?" Of course not!

2 new layouts

Number 1 is of my best friend Dave and his son (my God son) Benjamin. I used the sketch #108 from The Scrappiest blog. These pics were taken when I stayed there in January for Benjamin's baptism. I had such a wonderful time.




I also planned on stitching on this layout and then found the challenge #22 on The Paper Variety called Sew Much Fun. Sew, I am entering this in their challenge too.








Number 2 is also a sketch from The Scrappiest, #106. My picture is not so good, sorry. I will have to take another.
